Project seminars at the border

On May 10 and 11, two seminars of the project were held at the border. On the first day, it was time for a transport seminar for stakeholders in Cape East Haparanda, where the transport vision 2040 for Bothnian Arc was discussed. On the second day, the final seminar on the theme of tourism was held at Grand Hotel Mustaparta in Tornio, where the theme was cross-border cooperation possibilities.

At the transport seminar, stakeholder representatives who participated in the vision workshops were able to comment on the vision from their perspective. We also discussed the role of a joint, borderless transport forum to be established after the project. In connection with the seminar, we received an interesting presentation from Ikea, from a logistics perspective. At the end of the seminar we visited the magnificent Haparanda railway station.

The tourism seminar was opened by Ari Heikkinen from Bothnian Arc, who said in his opening words  "With seamless cooperation we have possibilities double our opportunities, measures and goals, as well as results and success, because ‘Together we are more’."  Key notes of the seminar were given by Andy Fairburn and Paul Wagner from Nordic Tourism Collective on the theme "The Importance of Collaboration".  We heard also a presentation about the campaign Save the Bothnian Bay. At the end of the seminar, the participants had the opportunity to network.
